Grow light is an artificial light source, generally an electric light, designed to stimulate plant growth by emitting an electromagnetic spectrum appropriate for photosynthesis. Grow lights are used in applications where no naturally occurring light or where supplemental light is required. The presence of light sources plays a major role in plants morphology. Plants respond to quality, quantity, and direction of light. Light is required in photosynthesis, a plant process of creating food and energy. The sun is the greatest light source for outdoor plants. However, substitute lighting can support the growth of plants indoors.
The plant growth lights work in three different ways:
To provide all the light a plant needs to grow.
To supplement sunlight, especially in winter months when daylight hours are short.
To increase the length of the day to trigger specific growth and flowering
The Right Combination Ensuring proper growth and plant health means making sure they have the right blend of light. Natural outdoor grows have the benefit of living in a world where all of the right wavelengths are provided to them, although it is relatively simple to replicate that indoors. Though plants can grow under only red light, they often display unhealthy growth. By using both red and blue wavelength light the growth in plants becomes normal.
